The forest seemed almost dead. The large serpant slithered silently through the brush, making a pattern in the dirt behind it. It’s forked tounge stuck out of it’s mouth, tasting the air. Smelling the scent of rabbit, the snake pushed itself to move faster, gliding over the earth. Finally it was on the rabbit, rising up above it, it stared with its cold eyes, mortifying its prey. Pulling back, with one swift movement it bit into the flesh, and was soon tasting its dinner. Nykamar was the true king of the hunt.

This is for 's contest. The point was to pick a character from the comic Legacy of the Night, out of Nykamar's pack, (I chose Nykamar actually) and draw them in a different form.

The reason why I picked a cobra for him is because as DawnFrost stated, he is Devious, Charming, Intelligent, Bad Tempered.

Snakes are devious in that they are sneaky and easily can blend in to their surroundings. They are charming, more so in the way that they can paralize and enemy just with a simple stare, as he is doing above to the mouse. They are intelligent in the hunt, and can be bad tempered when quick to attack or defend itself.

As for the picture, I think this is my new favorite! I am so proud of this peice. The scales where annoying, and I actaully had fun on the background, even though it was simple. The mouse was a debtable issue, because I was hesitant as to whether or not to keep it in there, but in the end I decided I would. AND I used not a single reference!

EDIT: Changed the mouse into a rabbit, because I thought this looked better, and it shows that Nykamar can take on bigger prey.
